Centre for Socially Engaged Theatre.

C-Set activities.

The Centre sponsors symposia, workshops and performances, host guest speakers and visiting scholars, and vigorously pursue opportunities for presenting and publishing artistic and scholarly works of its affiliates, including research generated by the Chair, graduate and post-doctorate students, in various performance-based art forms. C-SET engaged with both town and gown — through our collaborations and activities, C-SET promotes collective creative thinking and exploration on themes of relevance to the communities in Regina, on the Canadian Prairies, Canada as a whole and internationally.

Thus, C-SET is envisioned as an ethical space of possibility, drawing upon applied theatre methodologies -with the understanding that individual and community health can be sustained by people’s capacity to imagine. C-SET serves as a site for community dialogues, education, and creative and critical projects collectively undertaken; it provides opportunities for research designed for, with and by participants, who will be involved in all stages of the research process. C-SET will advance a range of ethical, theoretical and practice-based approaches to research creation through applied theatre practices. C-SET offers Canadians organizations and communities meaningful opportunities to participate in leading-edge research, through critical reflection on and engagement with social justice and applied theatre practices.
